Is Your Facility A Little Stuffy?

Posted On: January 11, 2016 by ClubProcure in: Clubhouse

Too often are clubs described as stuffy, and it can be difficult to change that perception, but with proper HVAC system maintenance, that statement won't be used to describe your club's air quality. Preventative maintenance is key to avoiding any issues before they become bigger problems. VGM Club members are offered a great program with Grainger who is offering large discounts on a wide selection of air filters this season. Clean filters can help minimize dust, allergens and other contaminants, all while increasing energy efficiency and the health of your HVAC unit.

Below is a check list to keep your entire HVAC system working smoothly. When inspecting your HVAC system it is important to bring an expert in approximately once a year. In the meantime, use your system's operating and maintenance manuals for a good start. Before beginning your checklist make sure to log your service dates and any pertinent information you learn or actions taken during maintenance.

  1. Check the chillers, cooling towers, boilers, pumps and fans.
  2. Next, inspect the air handling units covering filters, coils, fans, motors and drives.
  3. Finally check the chilled water and heating water treatment records; including corrosion inhibitors.

HVAC electricity often accounts for a significant amount of total building consumption. In many commercial buildings, it can be as much as 40 percent of the total consumption. Routine maintenance can help drive those costs down, and with Grainger's air filter discounts, the savings can really start to add up. Don't let your HVAC system create a stuffy atmosphere in your club. Keep the air clean, comfortable and safe.
