Waterloo Junior Golf Association Strengthens Golf

"It's a match made in heaven." - DJay Ellis, President & CEO, VGM Club.

DJay continued, "ushering in a new crop of young golfers is hugely important. We wouldn't feel comfortable calling ourselves a part of this industry unless we were doing our part to grow the game with young people - and it starts in our own backyard. That is precisely why we chose to partner with the Waterloo Junior Golf Association (WJGA)."

Executive Director of the Waterloo Junior Golf Association, Tom Berg, had similar sentiments about the partnership, "The involvement of VGM Club employees as volunteers at our tournament events has been fantastic for us. Each person who has come to help has been unbelievably enthusiastic and helpful, and a few of them are actually former WJGA members! When we think about the future of golf and exposing young people to the game that we all love, this partnership is a perfect match. We are most grateful to the wonderful people at VGM Club."

For those unfamiliar with the Waterloo Junior Golf Association, this statement is from the official WJGA website, "The WJGA sponsors a complete junior golf program for young people between the ages of 12 to 18 who wish to play and enjoy the game of golf." It is headquartered in Waterloo, Iowa and hosts events around the Waterloo - Cedar Falls area. (Otherwise known as the Cedar Valley)

This past Friday, July 29th was the WJGA end of the year banquet. WJGA directors and volunteers gathered to celebrate another successful year that saw almost 150 kids participate. The kids and their families were invited to celebrate their accomplishments and share a meal at Irv Warren Memorial Golf Course.

The WJGA's efforts were on full display at the banquet. No kid wanted to leave the course or their friends! "Can I hit just one more drive?" or "Let me try to make this putt quick!" The excitement for the game was palpable.

Tom Berg and the WJGA staff have truly reinvigorated the program. DJay continued to give glowing reviews of the work the WJGA has done, "To see how far they have come... It is very rewarding. We donate our time and resources to the WJGA because it is run by wonderful people. We understand that. Whatever resources or time we give - we know Tom and the WJGA directors will use it to enrich the experience."

The kids of the Cedar Valley are a big part of the game's future as they are with any other organization across the United States. The WJGA grows the game - one junior at a time. And because of that dedication to growing the game of golf - we will continue to support this great organization.
