Why Choose PondHawk?

Water on the course can sometimes be a hazard for your golfers, but don’t let your course’s pond be a hazard for your greenskeeper or pond manager.

“We have an increase in algae growth in our ponds during the summer months." Says Shaun Donahue, Head Superintendent at Tidewater Golf Club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. "That, coupled with the cost of running power to the pond locations and the image of pond management companies spraying algaecides in the ponds required us to look at alternative ways to clean up the ponds. PondHawk fit the bill with their solar powered aeration equipment."

The challenges Shaun Donahue and other superintendents face with course ponds are most often due to lack of circulation, hot/still weather, or phytoplankton decay.

How does PondHawk solve these challenges?

PondHawk is a solar powered subsurface aeration system that works without the need of electricity. Subsurface aeration exposes the water to air. PondHawk creates underwater fountains of air bubbles, which adds the needed circulation to the water in order for organics to decompose.

Although simple, this process is effective. It allows the pond to have a healthy ecosystem and it leaves it looking clean and presentable. Proper aeration also reduces the need for chemical treatments and solves the underlying problems in ponds.

How did Shaun hear about PondHawk?

"At the Carolinas Golf Course Superintendents Association annual Conference and Show in Myrtle Beach in 2016, VGM Club rep James Hockman and I were talking and it was suggested I look at PondHawk, which had a booth in the show that year.  I was brought over and introduced to Sandra in the booth and we discussed my challenges.  After speaking with Sandra and looking at the product in the booth I realized this could be a very reliable and productive way to address my algae issues."

Installation Process:

PondHawk can be installed nearly anywhere around a pond and can even work under partly-cloudy or freezing conditions. It can be installed within a week and could take as less as three man hours to complete.

"The install process was a smooth start to finish, thanks to Sandra. I know there are more people behind the scenes with shipping and manufacturing, but Sandra, along with her husband, takes point and makes it very easy. It’s basically a hole and a short, narrow ditch to the pond and PondHawk pretty much does the rest. We installed our first two units in under 5 hours."
